Sprout Grader ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered essay grading service for primary school students in Singapore, operated under Sprout Quiz. We collect only what is necessary to provide this service and comply with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) and other applicable data protection laws.

Data we collect

• Parent account email and name (used for authentication and billing)
• Child's name, school grade level, and avatar icon (no real photos of children are stored as profile data)
• Essay images containing handwritten text submitted for grading (stored securely in Supabase Storage)
• AI-generated grading results, transcriptions, and feedback
• Subscription and billing information (processed by Stripe; we do not store card details)

Children's data

This service is used by parents on behalf of their children. We do not collect personal information directly from children. Essay images may contain a child's handwriting. These images are used solely for AI grading and are not shared, published, or used for any other purpose. Parents may request deletion of all data associated with their child at any time.

How we use your data

Essay images are processed by AI services for grading purposes only and are not used to train AI models. We do not sell or share your data with third parties except as strictly necessary to operate the service:

• Database — database and secure file storage (Singapore/US region)
• Payment Gateway — subscription billing and payment processing
• GEN AI engine — AI grading of essays (images sent via API, zero data retention policy applies)

All third-party API providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for model training or any purpose other than processing your specific request.

Data retention

Essay images are discarded after processing, and grading results are retained for up to 12 months from submission. Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

Your rights (PDPA)

Under the PDPA you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, and withdraw consent for data use (which will result in account termination). To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
